    My Brant Season

Well it feels like a lifetime having to wait a full year everytime to get the chance to chase after some brant. Last year was cold, frozen toes and fingers, this year was sunny and hot, too much time spent staring into the suns reflection on the water, my face got burnt haha one extreme to the next. Another season down, happy to get out for 9 of the 10 days.

It can be real hard work depending where and how you hunt, long hours, sometimes mindless boredom after seeing the same waters for days on end and not seeing a bird move. But its all worth it when they make final quick turn and flip into the spread.

Whats it looks like packing for 10 straight days of hunting. Alot of gear.

    The first sunrise

Along with the carrylites I'm planning on adding a couple carved ones every year. Two hollow carved cedars, made by a fellow in Washington.

And the take after that opener, two beautiful black brant

    And lunch

Alot of nice birds in the late season, 4 Pintail Studs

Another day had a pair of grey bellies come into the decoys

A nice comparison between black brant, and western high arctic brant

Those are fiberglassed from a mold. Neat decoys. They stack well and sit nice and high on the water lightweight
1st Im in charge, and if not Matt is. Your job is to sign checks, tell us we're doing good and open your case of scotch after a good day. 2nd my fee. You can keep it, all I want in exchange for my service is the right to hunt all the drakes. A male. Buck only. Why and how are my business. If you don't like it, go alone. Set up right here or in a swamp or in the middle of a noshoot field for all I care. I've been on too many duck hunts with rich dentists to listen to any more suicidal ideas. Ok?
