Just kidding, after gearing up with the basics i would spend a little extra dough to make camp more comfortable. Expensive cot sleeping bag, better wall tent.

Optics,Boots ,Flashlight,Pack with Hydration System, knife and map, compass,GPS.I find Camo really only works for Bow Hunting as long as the clothes are dull and soft so when you pass tree branches there's no scratchy sound stealth is your friend.
I believe deer can see red ,blue, and white these colours stick out to them if I'm not mistaken.

I'd go with the boots too.And a good pair at that.I bought a pair of rockies and they leak
I use to have Rockies they eventually leaked too ,don't think I'd buy them again.

Re: What gear is the most important

You guys all misread his question ... he said assuming you already had the "basics", and then listed "boots" and a bunch of other gear as "basics" .
He already has boots, and optics .

I would consider a good gps as basic hunting gear, so if you dont have one of those, get one .Get a good one though (Garmin) and make sure it will take the Canada Topo maps .
I wont go in the bush without mine .

Or how about some boots ?
