    Epic Road Trip Vol #1

    What happens when your roomie invites you on a road trip from Kelowna BC to BF nowhere Manitoba to prep the cabin for the fall hunting season?

    foooood.... lots and lots of foooood

















    Here's a nice manitoba beaver shot for all you who like em hairy and smelly... i was 15' away from the critter and holding my nose...





    Ever hear the expression "loon shit" but just assume its typical mud? well its not... its a special blend of muskeg and sand with no bottom... so even tho the ground just looks a bit moist when you drive a duramax in it quickly turns moist ground into the consistency of water!!!!!!





    Part of our trip was also to build a couple tree stands on the edge of a large opening to catch eager bucks who tend to skim along the edges of the rough stuff rather then wander out into the open... this is one of 2 stands 12' off the ground on the edge of a square mile of prime graze land, it should be quite productive in the late afternoon




    Now for some folks here who have never been east of the rockies and always hear how flat it is.... let me dispell and doubts you have on how long you can watch your dog run away from home....

    We did catch the start of the crocus bloom! if your from the flat lands you may recognize these charming lil gem's that only come out in the early spring!





    And after all is said and done.... 2 cords of the nastiest punky half rotten firewood i have ever had the displeasure of working with was stacked to dry over the summer, i put close to 4000km's on my vehicle AND all i got was a belt notch thicker

    Nothin like getting set up for the end of the season and goin waddlin for whitetails One of our parners in Alberta spent two years in chef training, so all we have too do is EAT-DRINK & WADDLE. Last fall we each put on at least 5 lbs in 10 days.
    Whitey hunting has the opposite effect of sheep hunting, nice way to finnish out the year.

    you ate too much...next time more work less eating. Great picks looks like a great place to shoot a cranker whitey.

    Road trips are always a bit of a crap shoot, but that looked like fun! Great food and a bit of adventure always gets my travelling itch going!

    That was a great read and photos Hotwheels81! Thanks for sharing. I'm getting the itch to head out to the flat lands in Sask to visit relatives.
