sheep pack weight ?????

I'm thinking about getting the Intergral Design Sil Dome instead of a tent, Looks pretty good to me, only 740 gr.

Anybody got one, or used one?

My hunting partners each used them on an 8 day sheep hunt while I used a solo tent. One used a bivy inside and the other didn't. I thought they worked really well, although condensation was apparently a bit of an issue. I'd have no problems using one. More room inside than my solo tent for sure. Enough for one guy and his pack, etc. Wouldn't be something I'd trust in gale force winds, or lots of snow though. So you'd want to have a back up plan in the event of real, real bad weather.

Man! Some of you guys eat well on a sheep hunt!!

There are two things I don't like to think about on a sheep hunt. One is food ....the other is sex.


I pity the guys that hunt with their spouses. I would have a hard time concentrating on the hunt.

Thanks for the reply, what I was reading about it is if you use more pegs it's pretty solid and can withstand a lot of wind.
The zipper can be opened a little bit to minimize condensation and hopefully don't get any snow.
Otherwise just hunker down till the weather improves.

I was given one to test when they were first introduced and I am a hardcore, longtime ID fan. I did not like this and would not buy it and returned it as I found it to be a pita to erect, especially in any wind and the snowload issue is obvious.

I have experienced major snowstorms on opening day several times, 2006 and 2007 being examples and I always carry a shelter capable of both easy setup and bombproof in heavy snow.

Saworski SLC binoculars 10x42 2 lbs 1 oz

Well thats with water under 40lb packs for 7 days each extra day would add 2lb of food. Later season weight would go up by about 10lb with the change of sleeping bags and extra clothes. With the tent set up this way it will just fit three adults 2 dogs and packs.
We could drop about 3lb off of this but everyone needs their luxuries.
