I have been to the top of Wilcox peak and Nigel Peak right beside it.
Always wanted to do Athabasca, been on the glacier lots(not the tour bus) Some nice rams up there. I usually camp at the Icefields campground when I am exploring the area.

Doid the Wapta traverse this past summer and it was a blast.
7 mountains in 6 days about 75km it was a fun trip.

One of my favorite hikes in the general area was always to Pinto Lake, from the Park side. If I remember right, it is about 1500m elevation gain, right at the start. Up and over Sunset Pass. There are a few small puddle/pond in the Pass, with small Brook Trout.

The trail through the Pass is hard to follow. But if you stay to the left through the Pass you'll find the trail that curls down to the Lake.
If you want to stay on the path. I liked going straight up the center. This way it ends up at a shear cliff where you can look almost straight down on Pinto Lake. See the color changes with depth.

Lake has huge Bull Trout. I think it was closed to fishing a few years after I left the area.

I rafted out the Cline river one time. This slowly changes into a very steep walled canyon. Raft got torn to shreds and ended up walking out to the David Thopmson HWY. 12 hours in the water, then in the dark hike out. Long day ! Got to the trail head and there were several out fitters with horses waiting till the next day for a game warden (?) to decide what to do about the big Grizz that was feeding on one of their dead horses beside the trail. They couldn't figure out how I made it past it !

Beautiful area. There are 5 (?) valleys that converge at this lake.
