Had forgotten about this until another member pm'd to ask the same...

Not much to it. Simply make a batch of thick stew, simmer until just your preferred consistency (you'll want it a little on the thick side). I brown the meat first, then set aside. Put a cup or two of water in the pot, then potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic cloves, mushrooms, corn and peas in, bring to a boil then toss the meat back in and reduce to simmer. Add salt to flavor while simmering. When it is getting reasonably close, I usually toss in some pot barley to help thicken it up. Once done set aside to cool.

I used to make the pastry dough from scratch, but with today's "advances" I no longer do. Found that Shirriff Pie Crust mix is just as good, and quicker to use. This is the stuff I am talking about: http://www.oetker.ca/ca-en/our-produ...crust-mix.html
You can get it in pretty well any grocery store.

Make the dough, cut to the size of your pans (grease these with crisco) and put in the pans. Fill with the cooled stew, and put the lid on. I find that wetting the rim of the bottom pastry shell makes the top basically "glue" to it so there are no leaks. Poke a few breather holes in the top crust, and put in pre-warmed oven at 400 F for 20 minutes. Reduce to 350 for about 15 more minutes, and done.

Can be eaten right away, and also freezes for later use very well. Simply wrap with saran wrap and toss in the freezer. Couple minutes in the microwave and you pretty well have an instant munchie.

Hope that helps. As I said, not a lot to it, but certainly is a Favorite around here...

    Cheers,
    Nog

Kind of goes with the mindset stuck back in the early '70's or so...
And yeah, we still sleep on our waterbed!

Hell of a great way to enjoy a longish dinner with someone you like chatting with.
