Wow that is incredible.I wonder if it is possible to get the track hungup so it rolls around ?that would be a problem with the fenderwell for sure.

    Re: Snow Jeep

your better off getting a snowmobile for our terrain . the power to weight ratio of the jeep will never be enough to make it float on powder and the ground pressure is still not low enough to stop and start in alot of places.
there are reviews on the net.

Well I emailed the manufacturer last friday and missed his return call 1 hr later.

I'll hook up with them next week and see what their recommendations are for making it *right*

    My feeling too
I've looked at these for doing trail work.
There are several S10 and Broncos back east that have the conversion, that are used for utility work at ski areas, and for snowmobile trail grooming. They stick to the groomers and the roads.
The forces are all relevant to the size of the vehicle, none of them are meant for speed. A SUV with a 6 banger is not going to have anymore torque induced troubles than a larger pickup with V-8 and Dana 60s. The track assemblies are sized to the vehicle.
There are now conversions for Quads and RUV's , all the same design.

WOW, how the time has flown.
But,,,, I'm FINALLY ready to pull the trigger on this project.

Just ironing out some details between a Canadian and an American manufacturer, but something will be finalized this week!

That will float on some deep snow, but if you ever break through that's going to be a lot of digging. If I had the cash I would buy tracks too. Post up some pics when you get them on.

If I've been saving up for this for 5 loooong years, my friend - You Can Too!!

4x4 piece of plywood plus 2x6 plank, makes for a decent 'snowshoe base' for a jack-all.
Lift it up, fill in hole w/ new snow, and awaaaaay you go.

But to be honest, I won't be using it in shit that deep.
And there will always be a tree handy for excersing the winch.

One of those big air bag "jacks" that use exhaust from your tailpipe to inflate would probably work great too, appearanty they are great in soft sand. Should be fun, make sure you keep us jellous with updates and pics.
