Question Here is one for experienced glassers/guides

Other than time put in(experience) how can you tell if a bull moose is in the 50 inch ball park? Like say you spot some bulls while glassing what would determine whether or not you go after one? Any good ways to judge their antler size from a distance? Just curious, this info could help me at the end of the month! Thanks.

probably if when you first see it you almost shit your pants and you stutter 'that's one big f*$#&'n moose!'

Yeah, whatever the critter - deer, moose, elk, whatever - when you see one and think "OH, MY, YES!!!" and your hands get shaky, then that's the trophy book critter. If you see him and go "Well, he's pretty big..." and your hands don't shake, then he's probably just "normal big".

If each palm is the width of the mooses body you will have a 55"+ bull...where are you headed for this size of animal?

Look for the space in between the two plams and the body and most not all big bulls have big heads so it the antlers look wider than the lenght of the head youll have a big bull.

If it looks like it has a sheet of plywood on each side of it's head...... shoot him
