Region 8 Ptarmigan

Any ideas why there is no open season for Ptarmigan in region 8? Saw a dozen over the weekend...

I think they are fairly few and far between. Mostly isolated to the alpine, which is fairly uncommon itself in the Okanagan. Where did you see them?

Found them on the SW corner atop of friday mtn in 8-4 while looking for bear. Honestly i've never seen one before so it was a first for me. got a pic of one of them. after flushed they seem to fly further than the grouse we flushed. nice looking bird, smaller than a grouse. how are they for eating?
