used to be able to get pin on compasses everywhere but now it seems like i cant find any. i used to keep them on several of my jackets as well as the mc cross pad ,dash visor etc . I really like the marbles but a little to nice to leave on the bike etc , the cheap ones are great . I would buy a dozen if i could find them still. anyone got a lead in the lower mainland?

I'm sure a dollar store would have something like that. I know the kids near always come home from B-day parties with something like that in a goodie bag.
Take a kid hunting its more rewarding than shooting an animal yourself!!

I've always used my Silva Ranger (in mils, not degrees) on a lanyard (from my button hole to my left lower pocket. That way I never lose it and it's ready when I need it. Plus it's way more accurate than one that only displays cardinal points.

Silva has a small pin on compass that cost around $20. I have one but I don't it depend on it much since I alway pack the Silva Ranger azimuth model. The silva is one of the few pin-ons that is worth owning since it operates like a miniture orienting compass and is relatively accurate.
Anglo-Saxon why do you use the mills graduated compass since they're really an odd ball in north america. I have one too, but only because it's an odd ball even more than the quadrant compass has become. I understand the mills compasses are only used by the Australian military, but I don't know first-hand.

I do not feel comfortable with pin on compasses, or watch compasses. I trust my Silva Ranger but I've used that style for years and see no reason to change.

Pin on compass, that jogged the memory cells. Checked on the shelf in my reloading room and I still have two, "Silva Sun Watch Huntsman".
