Peter's aunt and uncle with his cousins came for a visit to canada. After many years of telling them about Canim lake and sending them pictures of our trips there with hunting and fishing and just frolicking in what we call our heaven they decided they had to see it first hand. So this past weekend we all went up to the cariboo and Peter's mom and dad and brother and sister and the family from Denmark stayed at Reynold's resort while we drove a few more miles down the FSR to our cabin. We took the jet boat and made frequent rendesvous back and forth taking them all out on the tube and for a tour of canim as well as a big time Alison's dinner. We were nicely surprised that Peter's sister and her hubby were able to take the time and show up late friday night and they stayed at the cabin with us.
We did some fishing with Breanne and Braydon (Azshia had to stay home as she is in the middle of finals with school). This was the first time I actually had more fun watching my kids fish and I never put a rod in the water. Just watching them fish and having a great time and actually helping one another out. I saw all the years we have fostered in them come out as they hooked and netted and laughed and baited and teased each other and caught a nice cache of fish for the freezer as well as the bbq. We shared some of the catch with Peter's family as they had never had trout before and well let's say it was a hit. We also dined saturday night on bbq ribs (6 full lengths of ribs), broiled rack of lamb (5 racks), mediteranean salad, greek pasta salad, pita and tatziki, roasted potatoes, sweet corn and for dessert of course Danish Pastries (sorry the bakery in Cloverdale helped with those). With 18 people and full bellies we sat around the campfire for a bit before having to boat back to the resort as well as some had to drive back (boat only holds so many).
As for wildlife sightings, we saw a beautiful buck hehehehehhe he will be open soon enough as well as we saw a nice black bear, and a cinnimon was also seen on route to Mahood falls. A friend of ours who also has a cabin near ours watched a moose swim across the lake to head onto shore right by their cabin (perfect hehehehehe guess who has her moose draw for October). Unfortunatley with 5 dogs running around, our resident fox didn't make her appearance. Breanne was walking with our dogs down the beach when she spotted a lone little Marganzer (not sure of sp) and an eagle swooped down after it, the wing of the eagle nearly touched Breanne's cheek (it freaked her out to be that close to such an enormous bird)
