I don't understand anyone using a .22 that has a good chance of not harvesting the bird. That is no different than saying if I get a good shot a 243 is adequate for a quick humane kill on a bison, elk or moose. Its unfair to the bird to leave it suffering. Too much chance for error aiming at a head on a gobbler in my opinion.
Their steaks, roasts and burger to me! Tom

Aren't turkeys the reason for having a 10 gauge?

Weather you shoot a 22 or a shotgun the only shot to take on a turkey is a head shot. If you read any articals or watch any turkey hunting vidio's they always shoot for the head. Even with a bow a head shot is best it is either dead or a miss. Just my 2 cents
