    Shadow's new "friend"

We were down on the Spit yesterday - looking for dead fish, or birds, or rotten stuff for Shadow to roll in - when up comes this big bruiser. It's a female and she was very playful, very sociable with other dogs (not so much with people) and very smooth when running. She just seemed to glide and/or float a over the rough terrain.

We found out that her name is Phoenix and she is mostly what she looks like - and that is wolf. Man was it a pleasure watching her lope around with the other dogs. Beautiful animal that's for sure.

I tried to get pics of her when she was in full stride, but a still camera just doesn't do her smooth, floating lope justice at all.

She's a bit daunting when she runs up to say hello, but after that she's a beauty. I'd love to have one of those.

You should see the feet on her - definitely wuff. Pads like that she could pussyfoot over 8 - 10 inches of fresh powder and not leave a track.
