Hi all,a great fall for getting out hunting and fishing!
Just wanted to make a note about what was noticed on goose island this past weekend.(Pitt river between Coq and Pitt meadows),A great place to hunt, close to home for many including myself (kayak hunting).
I hunt deer and geese, so while out biking the coq side of the dyke i always bring binos. Many shots were heard over at goose island so i had a gander (as I saw many other wildlife/birdwatchers doing)
I saw a good number of harvests of ducks but also witnessed many being thrown away into the marsh.
These were easily seen from shore and were black n white birds.
Ive never duck hunted (maybe one day) so im not sure how difficult it is to identify your intended prey (pretty easy with a goose) but I think being in plain view of the public (and what all those implications can bring) may require a greater scrutiny b4 a shot?
Lets keep legal hunting areas open, enjoy
