    8x42 or 10x42 Binos

I'm considering getting a pair of the Bushnell Legend or Trophy binos, and am curious about your opinions regarding the 8X or 10X. I am not a trophy hunter and don't plan on any sheep hunts in the near future. Also, what are your thoughts between the two models? Are the Legends worth the extra money?

    Any comments

I have a pair of both, I find I use the 8X more often. Better in wooded areas and of more use when bow hunting. The 10X are good for cut blocks though. One thing I noticed is that the 8X dont shake as much as the 10X when I dont have a rest (maybe I'm getting old...).

As my eyes get older (and the rest of me too) I find the 10x much easier to use, but they are a little heavier. You could always get the harness gizmo so they're not hanging around your neck. Buy the best you can afford.

maybe a mod could put this in the aproprite forum rather than the buy and sell section

The 10x are good for open country, but harder to hold steady for extended periods, which may cause eye fatigue. Build a solid rest if you are going to be awhile. 7x or 8x have a wider field of view and 'may' be brighter at dusk/dawn. Lower power are better for the tight, close setups. If you pack a spotting scope also, I would opt for the 8x.

    Thanks everyone for your comments.

Boxhitch, good point about the spotting scope. I'll be picking up the 8x.
