I’ve had a mix of both hides being better and taste being better between spring and fall bears but so many things can factor into this if it looks good point shoot and make the most out of your kill

And how about the hide if I want to save it or get a rug, I would think towards winter would be the best for the Fur? Wondering because if the Fall fur is better I will pull the claws and make something from that instead of doing a full rug.

    Thanks!
If your looking for your first may and september are the easiest times to kill a bear.. go shoot some..get the guts out as soon as you can safely and remove hide right away and enjoy...

I found the fall bears taste the best, especially one that I shot in the sub alpine, it was feeding on the black huckleberries, tasted as good as the whitetail I shot that year..
