Port McNeil river/lake fishing advise

Hello,

I will be spending a week in May around Port McNeil and am looking for suggestions for Lake or river fishing in the area? Ideally, I am looking for a campground close by and shore access as I won't be bringing a boat.

Keogh Lake is only about 20-25 minutes from town. There's official camp sites on one side of the lake and some nice quiet (unofficial) campsites right off the logging road on the other side of the lake and a spot to put in a car topper. There's also a number of lakes a few more km's down the logging road. Awesome area for spring bear too

That's Keogh Road, right? Appreciate it....

You bet that's the one. Some of the cutblocks are pretty thick and not really possible to hunt, but there are also plenty fresh cutblocks from recent years where you can see quite a ways. Lots of country to explore. And Keogh lake (like many on the north Island) isn't too busy with folks at that time of the year either (you may have it to yourself)
