Thanks for the article EA. A good little reminder. If we were typically seated in a blind or truckseat, I would promote to him to buy porro prism. The type of hu ting I anticipate he will be most accustom to would better suit roof prism binos.

After trying to get my Monarchs fixed, a simple eye cup replacement no less I too found Carsons to be very good. The new 3D ED glasses are unreal. Found mine on amazon for $350. If your patient you'll find them at a similar price as they fluctuate.

As to the Nikons. I love my pair of Monarch 3's but would NEVER advise others to buy them based on their empty warranty. 25yrs my ass. Fixed mine with o rings and gorilla glue. Best truck binos money can buy!!
Take a kid hunting its more rewarding than shooting an animal yourself!!

Nikon stopped making rifle scopes, maybe it was a money thing but to me it seems anti-hunting. Therefore I would NEVER recommend or own anything Nikon. F#%k Nikon

I would look into Athlon. Reviews are very good for these binoculars with very good warranty.

I too am a big fan of my Nikon Monarch 5s. Best binos I've had by far.
