Interesting point I forgot...

That final day in Rock Creek we saw a healthy Cougar.
Season was open.
Had a tag.
But don't usually carry a rifle when bowhunting (obvious reasons).
It was out just over 100 yards.

May have to revisit the rifle packing consideration down the road...

Thanks for sharing the great story. I keep telling myself that one of these years I should do the late season out there. Brrr This year it seemed warmer than the last few, but that snow!! Wow

I ended up camped along the mainline for a few days, couldn't get the rig up the first hill. I came across a bow hunters tree stand in the timber, not too far off the road, great spot intersecting a few game trails.
I had one opportunity at a small buck & left him be, got a glimpse of another buck but he gave me the slip.

I had a freezer fail with quite a bit of fish in it ,house insurance covered it and told me to get my prices from the grocery store, spring salmon fillets beat all other fish halibut was second.
