So I wont be able to afford a Tacoma or 4Runner anytime soon, but how does a Honda Pilot do as a hunting vehicle? I have a civic, and while that was sufficient for waterfowling, upland and back country hunting was pretty limited to say the least.

Any Honda CRV awd would make a good hunting buggy in my thoughts other than be a little low for clearance, we have a 2014 Touring model with 61k and a great car for fuel milage 8.3 yesterday to Kamloops in -20 weather.
I used a rav4 until this October when it got hit and run. Couldn’t 4x4 over big deactivations but I still put 7-8 animals in the back of it over the last 5 years.
i was thinking about that, but the clearance was the issue for me, as well as if i wanted to say, carry an elk in the back with 2 hunter's worth of gear for a week.
Similar to above, i was worried about the load-bearing capabilities. As well, a little extra power would be nice for if i ever wanted to go into some steeper country.
I have a 2000 Chevy tracker for sale, very nice shape, never in the bush, 4 cylinder, 4Door, 4wd, lift it,would be awesome bush truck.
Friend in Rossland used one for a couple years it sucked.
any car can be a good hunting vehicle, within limitations
still have pics of Dad coming home with moose in a '63 Rambler station wagon, with camp gear
My first was in a 2wd Comanche
Glad to say I have hunted Northern BC
Simon Fraser had pretty good judgement on what he found in BC
Hunters have even used a VW Bug
Arctic Lake.

For carrying loads a small utility trailer is a good alternative. Even with 2 full sized 4x4 trucks + my Taco, we ended up hauling our LEH elk back to camp with my utility trailer.
These little trailers are around $2K new these days, not sure what's out there for used. Easy for even smaller cars to pull. Free up a lot of space in the vehicle for travel in/out on longer hunting trips.
.
If you get one, go 4wd. Avoid the awd stuff. Not as reliable and very $ to fix
