Re: Hunting Mountain Lion without Hounds
I saw an old cougar yesterday that was taken by a fellow who spent 40 days last year trailing cougars in the snow. He finds a fresh track and starts following it. Reportedly he followed a number of females and juveniles in addition to the larger males. He determined age and sex of the cougar he was tracking by the width of plantar pads. I do not have an indication of how many days he followed what he considered fair game but in 40 days he only saw the one cougar. He was able to slip within 20 meters of it before it woke up.
