Just a friendly reminder that ticks are still alive and crawling around on the animals we harvest.
Harvested my (first bc) deer yesterday and dragged 500m through deep snow to the truck. Brought it home and noticed these suckers crawling around on the deer. Squished the 2 I saw and checked myself over.
Skinned it out last night and left the hide inside the shop. Woke up to see a couple dozen ticks sitting on the surface.
Hunting in Alberta I never even thought about or saw ticks on an animal. Now I'll be a bit more diligent on checking myself after skinning/gutting my harvest.
