    Diesel camp heaters

My husband really wants a diesel heater and I have no knowledge about these. I’m well aware that heater buddies are preferred by many but I really just need some insight on what he is wanting. This is for camp and it is for a 80-100 sq ft space. I appreciate your input In advance

he may be talking about this stove. I have a larger one for my 12x12 tent and I wish I went with this size because mine is too big and way too hot. I bet this one would heat perfectly

If you shop around you can find a Yukon 1950 wood stove. Mine burns diesel, wood or coal.

Brew, does your stink of diesel fuel inside the tent.
Very interested in this for my 12x 14 with 8 ft add on.

Is it a Chinese diesel heater he's looking for? One of the espar knockoffs? If so, they heat like crazy, don't add moisture to the air like Buddy heaters do and are very efficient and cheap to run.

What kind of setup are you using? Standard wall tent with no floor? How much diesel do you go through in a night? What kind of temps are you camping in? Are they a fairly sturdy unit? Do you think it would be something I could throw in my tub trailer and drag 50 kms into the backcountry? Or would it fall apart?

Sorry for the 50 questions, but I have to buy something soon and have been toying with the idea of diesel. I sometimes go out when it’s -20 or -30 and was wondering how they’d hold up. It would be nice to have something on a thermostat instead of trying to wake up and keep the wood stove going.

One more thing. I wouldn’t run a buddy heater overnight in a tent. They say they’re safe for indoor use, but I’ve heard a few stories of several people dying in their sleep with propane heaters running. It’s not really something I’d bet my life on.

I have a Geostove 3200 for my 12x14 wall tent. It's tough as nails with no breakable parts. It's gravity fed from a gerry can, has a thermostat, and no electrical required. The unit is square, so it packs and stores good. I picked mine up a few years ago for $400 on Craigslist, fuel hose a pipes included. No more stoking wood stove.
I don't think this is what the OP was asking about as it would be overkill for the area in question, but I thought I'd let you know about them. If you see one, pick it up.

I believe the trekker is about $100 cheaper at Deakin.
When in doubt, just pin it.
