    Moose Region 5 - Questions

Myself and a couple buddies are hunting moose in region 5-1 right now and have a few questions.
    • We came across a bull moose hide this morning. Should we keep hunting this area or could this mean that the bull from this immediate area is gone and there may not be others? Maybe try a couple KMs away from the hide?
    • We have seen 3 cow moose over 2 days in the same area. Should there be a bull in the area or not necessarily?
    • Does this warmer weather effect the rut? Should we use cow calls?

This is our first time hunting moose, so any tips would be appreciated. If anyone has any region specific advice, that would be great.
We are around the Deka Lake area.

    We’ve got 2 days left.

    Cheers!

I know there was a few bulls harvested on the weekend of the 1st near Deka. With the amount of atv/utv traffic and hunters I’d get way off the beaten path.

Hope your cow calling . Try using the tampons with Buck Expert synthetic moose urine scent as S Rupp suggested in moose calling thread .

Call in the areas where the cows where. Not where the hide was.
I have seen groups of 5 moose when I lived in Hudsons Hope, 3 cows and 2 bulls. It was 5 miles from my truck so I said have a nice day and went home(1982).
