    Open fire dinner sides?

I don’t normally bring a fry pan camping and we try and cook everything on a cheap grill over open fire, but I’m running out of ideas for sides. We usually do pork shoulder steaks, beef steaks, smokies/hot dogs and I’m going to bring some box chicken wings this time.

I always freeze up a bunch of double stuffed potatoes and grab some bag salad, or potato/noodle salad.

    What else is out there?

Corn on the cob, silk removed but husk on, wrapped in foil works well over the fire. Mini taters, chopped carrots, with butter and seasonings roasted in a foil package over the fire is great too. These will take a bit longer, and should be flipped regularly.

Do they sell touton dough around bc? It’s a bit of a Newfie thing they sell at Sobeys in fort Mac. Basically a bag of dough ready to bake. It’s super soft and easy to work with.

Red peppers cut into quarters, guts removed and tossed in some olive oil and spices.

Canned potatoes mixed with some Lipton onion soup mix in a tin foil package. We add a bit of the potato water from the can. Potatoes are cooked so just need to warm. The onion soup mix adds a nice flavour and left overs make excellent hash browns the next morning.

roast vegetables in a bbq wok pan. Little oil and steak spice is nice but can use what ever seasoning you like.

Bring one of them silicon BBQ mats to put on half of your grill you use. Grill lotsa veggies on it, those hash brown Patties, stuffed mushrooms etc. they work real good on open fire and help prevent unintentional burning too a crisp
