Full sink Type 6 or 7 fly line works well with a pumpkin head fly, or Doc Spratley 's

Update . Trolled for 4 hours yesterday only 1 fish on. Superman Lucky Bug lure . My better half’s first fish ever !
Yea ! I think she was down 3 Colours . We have tried 2 other Lucky Bug Lures , Purple Reaper , Orange Crush , also Hildebrant . How often do you change your lure ?We are fishing Lead line with 6 foot leaders wondering we should add some split shot at the beginning of the leader ? Any tips would be appreciated !

I can only give you a tip using fly rods and line especially.
You get the heavy fast sinking rate fly line.
Put about a 10-15 foot leader on it.
Tie on a Booby, l like a more natural Color of olive or black vs the tequila.
Let all the main line out, I’d you are in 25-35 ft of water, so right out to the backing.
This way the main line will drag the bottom, but the booby has large foam eyes, so it will suspend itself(and the hook) a couple of feet from the bottom ( usually the best zone to catch fish).
Dont know why the like Boobies?, but they go after them.

Rhe problem with a trolling line is you need some weight, to get mainline to drag bottom, and that weight usually gets snagged.
Tou need a fairly clean bottom lake to use the above technique.

Tou could also try Chiro mimic fishing using trolling rod where you anchor and suspend fly straight down.
Fish with Rod had a great YouTube video on this technique that he used last year I believe on his channel, so check that out.
You just have to find an area that is having a hatch and hope the trout are down below feeding on them.
Chironomids are their #1 food source most of the year.

When you are back, pm me, I can help you get into fly fishing.

Try a black spratley with silver wrap down 4-5 colours or an olive green pumpkin head 2-3 colours or 40ft back with full sink fly line.
