Always had good results with blue & green, gray & green, gray & blue flies i tied myself for East Coast Van Isle Pinks. Pink colored lures never ever produced the amount of strikes the blue/green/gray combos did.

Handlebars, with and without bead heads. Pink, blue, green and purple work for me. Simple, fast tie.

I have tied up some handlebars, crystal shrimp and a couple other local patterns. I think I am tired of looking at hot pink and chartreuse time to start in with some blue and greens maybe.

I heard there was pinks showing around Campbell River but if you are a week away yet from going to Parksville I would bring gear cause it should be starting.

If I was in Parksville I would look at a short day trip to Campbell River/Oyster/Nile Creek this early in the season. A bit early for even the Oyster I suspect.
