Is it open on the 15th July for Chinook Retention?

Just wondering if the dfo is opening up the east side of island on the 15th??
Havent heard anything official?
Would like ti get over to Nanaimo/Parksville for some chinook retention asap.
My buddy has almost got his boat converted from inboards to outboards.
But he too, has not heard yet what is going on either.

Out in front of the Fraser I doubt will he open until September sadly.
Amd who the hell knows about the Sockeye as well.

And we think our hunting is bad enough.

Yes, one per day and I think a max of 80 cm

Probably will be the same as last year with a slot limit.
But man they take their time till the last minute.

Heard there might be some tackle changes coming soon.
Guessing it might have to do with the hooks used and all those catch/damage studies they have been doing.

Also heard there might be a year round opening next year.
Finally a marked select fishery that is long overdue.
Then hitting Nanaimo etc in May/June is on the books for me!!???

I find those early fish around Nanaimo/Thrasher area are the best eating salmon fresh out of the water.

Yup, and a nicer size. And for sure more of the peak run for timing
