Yes, my understanding is that Fraser river levels were high, thus the slide area is holding sockeye back.
They are hoping with the lack of rain etc now, that the levels should drop and thus easier for sockeye to get to final destination.
I thought they said they were held up around Boston bar last week or the abouts.
I recall in other years they get held up around Yale.
Si, there is still hope for decent returns like elsewhere,
There is zero issues with Sockeye migrating on the Fraser right now. Socks have been moving past the slide site for over a month now.
Asides from a few sets the ocean numbers for the late stock Adams have been almost non existent.
As for the Thompson, even in peak freshet there is no problem w any salmon stock migrating in high water.
The only thing holding the sockeye back are the netting being done from Spuzzum to the mouth of the Fraser, absolutely disgusting what is happening to our stocks.
no monday or tuesday opening, but looking at all the netting openings for the weekend monday tuesday would be slow anyways
The opening is on and starts tomorrow morning! Let the craziness begin!
