    Last time that socks were open on the Fraser, the closing date was September 02, 2018.

    Question for smoking salmon is there a species of salmon thats favored over others? Hows sockeye for smoking im planning to learn the art of smoking this year.

    Thinking sockeye is prime for that.
    Natives have it hung and dried back in the day.
    Chinook has the most fat.
    Cant recall where sockeye and coho come in.
    But all should be good.
    Alrhough my favourite is the brined sockeye cold smoked.

    Thats interesting . Thanks for the info my son picked up a bradley smoker can't let him keep it all to himself lol going to give it a try with fish and meats

    Cold smoked do you do that yourself or send it out? would you not need a different type of smoker to do cold smoke?

    Back in the day driving up the Fraser canyon you would see salmon hanging on the wooden racks that the aboriginals were drying . How do they keep the flies away and how long do they let them dry like that ?

    they soak the fish in salt brine that coats the fish meat which develops a boundary that flies and other insects avoid and or can't penetrate while its hanging

    My buddy had a buddy.
    But, if you look up Fish with Rod, he did a YouTube on smoking salmon and I think he also did cold smoke.
