Our new hunting partner will be here next week.

I was pretty excited getting my first pics of the actual dog I was getting from the litter I’ve been waiting for since last fall.

irish red and white setter- his name is probably going to be Carlos.

Congrats Buster. Very nice looking breed for sure. What kinds of game are you planning on training him to hunt? Pheasants?

Have you practiced yelling the name Carlos yet and can you do it without laughing?

The plan is to get him trained up to point and flush grouse mostly, maybe pheasants and ptarmigan if we can find them. There’s not too many pheasants where I’m at so I’d have to travel a ways. The breeder says her dogs water retrieve as well so we’ll see how that goes, but that’s last on my list.

The kids picked the name. We have another dog named marmaduke from the movie and from what they tell me marmaduke has a best friend cat named Carlos. They want to call him loce for short

Carlos is a name of the guy that his vehicle got stolen. But the pup is excellent, it will certainly be fantastic hunting companion.

Nice looking pup! So how long does it take them to start growing their feathery coat behind their front legs and tail?

If you're in the lower mainland a bunch of versatile dog folks are starting up a BC NAVHDA chapter,,,,, if you're interested.

I have no idea when the coat comes in and I live in northern Alberta. I’ve been in touch with the Edmonton Navhda chapter, but not sure how often I’ll be able to attend training days.
