    2 Caribou, 2 Hunters, 1 Beaver

    Hi all,

Still crossing my fingers and hoping my partner and I will be able to actually do our fly in and hunt Reg 6 Caribou in Sept.Question for those of you who have flown in on caribou hunts.

We are limited to 1200# on the Beaver and are planning on going in fairly light.

Looking like we will be a 675# +/- 25# everything in.

Can we get 2 boned out caribou + headgear on the pick up flight with 500# to spare? Or do we need to consider the possibility of needing a 2nd flight out?

    thanks

It's always up to the pilot , but you shouldn't have an issue with that load as long as you have enough lake. We had similar weight last year and brought out two caribou with no issue.

We had no problem coming out 2 people, 2 caribou. I find in a beaver, your're more limited by space than weight.

Having flown out of Dease Lake a few times I have learned a trick or two..Cariboo hunting you are in barren country and not much firewood ..Flying in load the plane with the remaining weight in firewood and a light stove ..Coming out then you need the weight space ..Also some guys used presto logs for fuel ..Hope this helps ...Its cold in caribou camp ...Dennis

Dennis is right about that. Fill up your inbound weight with fire fuel. You can always leave wood behind if you don’t use it all! The lack of trees in caribou country also eases the take off and landing difficulty slightly.
If we’re not supposed to eat animals, how come they’re made out of meat?
