I thought that's odd, I don't recall having been asked that before.
So probably something to do with this new law.

OK maybe I just didn't remember, I am sure when I bought my license before at a gun store they didn't ask.
    But what's the point?
If I say at the time that I don't but change my mind next day.

And on a completely unrelated note, 6" PVC pipe sales went up 800% in recent days.

What a brave new world we're living in.

The Gov't (police) may charge you but getting a conviction will be almost impossible. The first information to be proven is that the people of Canada knew that this has come into law. Nobody in Canada believes what the TURD is doing today let alone what he signed a couple of years ago.
The head quarters of the RCMP is in Ottawa. If they started to have 5 or 600 people at the front counter asking for a reference number they might think this threw a bit more. This could happen at every Detachment across Canada. They will say they want you to go by e mail but that is just another ignore tool. Stand in line and demand a number and don't take no for an answer.

I wonder if like in past, they will mail / email / whatever all RPAL / PAL owners giving notice of changes? If they don't there's probably a high % of gun owners who simply won't be aware of this. I know the old adage of "ignorance of the Law is no excuse" but with a sudden change like this one would think that gun owners could justifiably contest any enforcement?
    Gonna be interesting.
