now onto finishing work. I will sand and trim the edges nicely. then i have to burnish them. final step will be stain and sealing the leather.

well finally got around to finishing this project. it hit the shelf for a while there, but now it's ready just in time for bear season

final steps were to burnish the edges and apply some stain. after sanding the two pieces flush and rounding the corners, i used a bevel tool to trim the edges. then it's burnishing time. i used water, then some neets foot oil as the leather grain was quite dry, then some waterproofing leather wax. the wax i have is a beeswax/tallow base. works well.

    sanded even:

the burnished edges, nice and shiny

after all that, it was time for stain. i choose the colour "english bridle." when i imagine anything leather, it is this colour. obviously fitting for the grizzly carving as well.

ready to go in my hip pouch now! it passes the blizzard test, upside down no bullets fall out, though mostly this is just to keep the bullets from jingling around in my bag.

thanks for following, see ya out there.
