I just read the regs and you are not allowed to fish for or keep any invasive smallmouth bass caught in Cultus Lake.
Can anyone explain the logic in this?
Is it to keep them from spreading???????

Where did you read that?
According to this you have to return "pink tagged bass" only
https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/sp...020_update.pdf
1. Human over population
2. Government burden and overreach
Where does it say that? To my knowledge, any bass caught in there are not allowed to be released.
Check my Youtube Channel for fishing and hunting videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjN...AEGjPIUba3pn9g
Very simple, we don't want people encouraged to spread the bass to other waters. In Region 5 Cariboo you are not allowed to even fish for bass. If the smallies get established in the Fraser, say goodbye to the Salmon.
Region 5 Daily Quotas(See tables for exceptions)
Bass: 0 quota, CLOSED TO ALL FISHING
I think there was a story in the news a few months ago.
Take all of them, don't release any of them.
As for the pink tagged ones, I know nothing about that.
Not sure why they would want you to throw them back when they really want them gone?
Maybe to figure out where they are spawning so they can go in a wreck the eggs by diving??
Big issue I suppose to poison the lake since people live there.
No targeting, no retention. They’re in the Beaver Lake chain which I believe ties into the Quesnel River(hello, Mr Rupp?), which dumps into the Fraser.
lol....hmm yes they are indeed in the BLC...know an individual that did catch a couple small ones...very site orientated..he went back and caught more in same location..
im not sure of the water dynamics..your flow makes sense from geographical standpoint..not much seperation from Beaver valley..to Quesnel river

Sorry folks, my mistake i was reading the regs for zone 3........
