Another stellar year for you Brad!

Where do you waterfowl hunt around Kamloops? Out towards Trenquille looks good, but I see there is a big area of the primo terrain closed to hunting. Is it busy/huntable along the river towards Chase? Don’t need your exact spots obviously, I’m just in the process of deciding if I want to move back to the Shuswap area, and wondering how far I’d have to drive from say, Sorrento, to get to some birds.
If we’re not supposed to eat animals, how come they’re made out of meat?

I miss duck hunting. Along the coast I stumbled upon lettuce tide zones with 500 mallards on it.
No-one would eat them because of the weird taste.
The challenge of retirement is how to spend time without spending money.
The worst day slinging lead is still better than the best day working.
Look around is there someone you can introduce to shooting because that’s the only way we will buck the anti gun trend sweeping Canada! "tigrr 2006"

There is duck hunting on Shuswap lake? Awesome. It IS huge, and I would not have thought they would hang out there, aside from the pier right in Salmon Arm, but why not? I grew up in Eagle Bay and have been considering a return. I need to rethink things apparently. I was not an active hunter when I left there. Thanks Brad!

Nice work, congrats! So I'm guessing with the mallards that you have to cook them up to a certain temp prior to smoking them?

no,,,,i marinate them for full 16--24 hours,,,,,throw them in smoker,,,,,,,they done for jerky aprox. 4 hours later,,,,,,if they cut at 1/4" slices,,,,,,the nice thing about duck jerky,,,,,is almost every species of duck is doable,,,for same results,,,,,,merganser and coots,,,,,i marinate for full 3 days,,,,36 hour seems to be the trick
