Opening day forest fire smoke 8-3,8-4

    Hey Guys,

hope everyone ( who was out opening day ) had a great opening day.

I hiked my butt off, along the east flank of Manning park way south close to the US border.
ended up seeing quite a lot of Muley does, and nothing else.
Forest fire smoke was mild in the Am to real bad in the PM , and I ended up with a razor blade throat towards the end of the day, so came home in the dark vs staying overnight.
conservation had closed the forestry access points north side of #3 from east gate to Princeton.

Hope you guys are safe from the smoke as it ended my trip real quick.

    good luck

I'm at our cabin in 8-5, pretty clear here since Weds.
I'm not hunting this trip but Son and his Buddy are spending the weekend looking for bear in the area, will probably hear tomorrow how they did.
I'll be back in 2 weeks to get out and hunt.

    Seeing any Grouse up there??
Have a buddy who's wife is waiting for her Hunters # as she just passed her CORE.
He wants to get her out there and was asking me if i knew a good spot for grouse, but i haven't been out yet.

I did see several grouse thruout the day, probably 5 or 6, was not really counting.
quite the fire around Garrison lake , south end of 8-5, which from what I understand was
the route cause of the smoke I encountered in 8-4.
hopefully we get some solid rain and it knocks the smoke down and puts the smaller fires out.
some nasty ground work laid for next year as many of these fires if not completely out will smoulder away all winter under the snow then go boom again in mid June.

im looking at some of the tributaries off Rampart creek in 8-6 for next weekend

    good luck and be safe.

My neighbor went up towards Princeton but was trying to work his two wire hairs, so bailed out due to smoke. We took our Weims up to 3-16 area. Got a bird, and flushed a few more, but way less than I hoped for. Saw zero fur bearers.
If we’re not supposed to eat animals, how come they’re made out of meat?

    Depends where you go.
Son has been out scouting for whitetails the past few days - has one hanging in his garage now.
I'm hoping to do the same next week.

There a lot of 8-05 that is still open if you look at the maps, just might have to rethink your point of access. http://bcfireinfo.for.gov.bc.ca/ftp/...2020210808.pdf
