    Size: 63,523.0 hectares (estimated)

    Status: Active

    Hunters: Please note that an Area Restriction is in effect for this fire and NO hunting is permitted within the area indicated in the attached map. This Restriction is to provide for the safety and security of wildland firefighters.


    As of August 26, 2021,The Tremont Creek wildfire is classified as "Being Held."
    This Indicates that (with the resources currently committed to the fire) sufficient suppression action has been taken that the fire is not likely to spread beyond existing or predetermined boundaries under the prevailing and forecasted conditions.     Low level scanning is being utilized to identify hot spots.

    There is active fire in the Jimmie's Creek area on the northern flank, crews are patrolling and mopping up. This will continue for the next few days.

    In the northeast, the key objective is to increase containment along the fire edge, utilizing direct attack tactics with hand crews, especially between Duffy and Dairy Lakes. Crews are working hotspots along the perimeter to 100 ft. on eastern flank, north to Durand Lake and between Dairy Lakes and Chartrand Creek by establishing hose lay along a network of recently constructed guards and established road. Direct attack is also being used in the Chartrand Road area.

    On the southeast and south flanks, firefighters are actioning hotspots along HWY 97 D within 100 ft. as per the infra-red scan map.

    Crews are using direct attack methods in the Forge Creek area, working hotspots along the perimeter.

    Area Restriction
    An Area Restriction for the Tremont Creek Fire was updated August 28 to reduce recreational traffic while operations continue. For more details on the latest update, including a link to a map of the area under restriction, go to: Tremont Area Restriction Order Update. Please note the clauses in the Area Restriction as these apply specifically to this fire, and that failing to comply with restricted area requirements under Section 11(2) of the Wildfire Act may result in penalties and/or fines.

    Nearby communities may see smoke within the fire's perimeter over the coming weeks. Smoke appearing from within the fire perimeter and burned material is common; however, smoke that rises from green, unburned fuel, that is near or from outside a fire's perimeter should be reported.
