That is one of the draw backs about the Tyee Club.
It is now being accepted to release Tyee size salmon.
See it happening at Duncanby Lodge for example.
Who really needs a 30lb salmon anyways?
A 20lb is more practical, imo,

But, as some state, there arent many taken by the Club either.
But if we are ever going to see potentially larger salmon in the future, it has to be considered.

But, the OP was about the nets in the water!
It is this part that is really becoming controversial.
Especially with the earlier runs for the Fraser run, that causes the sports industry to stay closed.
But, even though this run is a species of concern, the Feds are all fine with nets in the river.

    Honestly, the Feds isn't listening.
Sitting with signs out front a parliament don't do, and will never do dick.
Got to do it like the folks back east!
Get in there and destroy those nets in the river, imo.
Then the government will "have to listen"!!

Taking it to court like i have heard rumored in the sports fishing industry will take years.
And the Feds i believe are more than willing to see it happen like that.

Some clarification on this DFO created ClusterPhuck:

"However, the release — and the commotion in response to it — was unnecessary because We Wai Kum members are not planning FSC harvesting in the Tyee Pool, despite having the right to do so, said Chief Councillor Chris Roberts, in a press release.

“DFO jumped the gun and unnecessarily issued this release because currently there is no intention to exercise our fishing rights in the Tyee Pool, near the mouth of the Campbell River, so everyone is getting worked up over nothing,” said Roberts.

Wow wind the story up and then it falls flat. Thanks Nog.

Look around is there someone you can introduce to shooting because that’s the only way we will buck the anti gun trend sweeping Canada! "tigrr 2006"

Nog… it’s the news… read between the lines. It is highly likely there was intent to fish it until the public backlash. It’s never as simple as it seems. This was likely a retract statement so WWK didnt feel the backlash from the public.

quit being so hard on DFO . Haha!
