    Good work & thanks for sharing the story & photos.

    On deer hunting-the younger-the better the taste. Also in general doe tastes better than buck.
    Best time to hunt is at daybreak or late afternoon. Hunt close to a water source & sunny side. After harvesting keep your rifle close by & ready for protection especially if you must come the next day to retrieve it. Also circle your game with flagging & be extra careful when coming back. Never let your guard down when in bear country.

    The 308 is a great deer rifle.
    My regular hunting partner(LOVER308 ) since '67 has been using the 308 WIN for 54 years & has never had a problem. Many deer, moose & some elk & bear had fallen to the 308.

    I bought the jerky package from Cabelas, sweet and hot flavours. Then follow the recipe, using a smoker. Basically, 1/8 inch thick, 170F for 3 hours
