    Bear hunting

I am heading out next weekend to try my luck at getting my first bear. I was planning on trying the Tamihi area as it's close to cultus. My question is has anyone had luck in the past in this area or should I try somewhere else. I have a trailer at cultus and will be dropping off the family on Friday and picking them back up on Sunday afternoon on my way home. I am excited just to get out but it would be even better if I had a good chance at harvesting a bear.

Thanks for any input or advice.

Hey dru, I grew up in Chilliwack and spent a lot of time in the Chilliwack river valley. These days it’s an incredibly busy place on weekends. Lots of dirt bikers and quads bombing around. Try to find a spot away from the crowds if you can.

There are bears up on Tamihi the problem is finding a legal spot to kill them.
I remember fishing and bears were coming right up to me 20 yards.
    They were fairly tame.
I knew a guy who had property on the river that always had problems with bears.
Some were also across the river coming from the Slesse park area.
I did hunt the Tamihi area once. But could not find bear.
But I'm sure there are bears up there.
Yes those slopes going to Cultus should have bears.
But it may be tough to find them with how popular that area is for recreation.
You really have to go up to the very tops.

You have a better chance of winning the Lotto max than getting a bear up there on a long weekend.

I'm always in that area. One of my favorite local spots but lots of people. You must be willing to put boots to the ground and get away from the road to find success, the wildlife is there. Last I checked theres a landslide 2kms in but you can get through with an atv or dirtbike. I would only consider hunting there if you can get all the way in.

Be aware of the "No shooting area's" 800 meters off Chilliwack lake road.
The Bow still works in these areas though,
ya go deep away from noise, seen some big ones last fall,
    Good luck
