    Caffeine in the woods

What’s your favourite way to caffeinate when you’re out and about?

I actually quit drinking coffee for a couple of years because I couldn’t handle the nuisance of making a coffee in the bush before I could do anything. I like to just get up and go, but I would get a headache pretty quickly without it. Anyways, I’ve been back on it for a couple months now and I’m probably not going back.

I always have my jetboil with me and my favourite is to bring along the aeropress go with a fellow prismo. 20 grams of coffee, 50 grams of water for the shot and add another 200-250 ml of water for a hillbilly Americano.

Im thinking some caffeine pills or something would be good for those days when you want to get up and assault something before first light.

I like Starbucks Via coffee, or instant coffee.
I'm not a coffee conosseur, I just need it so my head doesn't explode, so I'm not particular about it.
    Especially in the bush.

I hear ya, I just need caffeine to avoid the withdrawal headache. So I’m pretty sure I’ve got most folks beat with how low my standards are for my caffeine intake: while sheep hunting I just open a pack of Via down the powder and wash it down with a mouthful of water. It’s awful.

When I read this far, I thought "challenge accepted"

You got me beat, but now that the seed has been planted I might end up giving that a try

    Jet boil and instant.

Starbucks is definitely the best instant option by far. Expensive, but worth every penny, or nickel I guess.

this is a little unorthodox, but if you can find a caffeine heavy pre-workout you don't need to go through the hassle of heating water (though it's really not much different from a caffeine pill).

This doesn't work for me, it's not just the caffeine that I need it's something else in coffee, that tea or other sources of caffeine can't provide.

I do via when backpacking, and have a regular drip maker in the camper.

I don’t drink energy drinks or anything and I’d be a little bit worried of how I’d feel if I had a pre workout on an empty stomach.

If I'm going light it's Via stuff or similar from Starbucks. Easy, right dose.

If I have my druthers it's real coffee.
