Not sure where mine is made but I bought a 2.5 Yamaha. I looked at Mercury and Honda. I did not like a plastic prop. Yamaha has metal prop and is water cooled. I offered the dealer on Langley bypass 1200.00 cash plus 4 adult cookies out the door. Oddly enough they took it and the cookies.

So it's almost as heavy as the Tohatsu, was it cheaper?

I believe it's exactly the same weight as the Tohatsu as that to actually made it. It is cheaper than the Honda and the Tohatsu yes

Nice thing about the yami 2.5 is having a neutral & forward gear choice, few brands of the 2.5 are centrifugal/centrifical clutch, sometimes these engines need a little RPM to start nice to have that option with out your vessel making unplanned maneuvers.
