In 2018 we had big changes in temps in our fly in. Once we deboned my caribou and packed it back to the lake, we laid it all out over night on a tarp, before putting it spaced out in game bags and then putting the game bags in heavy duty contractor bags(to keep dry) sitting in the lake for the day and a half we waited for the plane.. it worked for us, not sure what everyone elses experience is with that.

Put meat in game bags then into garbage bags sink in water during the day careful to keep the tied end of garbage bag out of the water. at night take out of garbage bags hang in tree for the night and repeat next morning putting it back in the water. if you leave the meat in garbage bags in the water for days at a time there is a likely chance there will be a build up gases and meat can go green, we have had elk moose sheep last for weeks doing this.

It does not hurt to have a couple Big ass coolers with frozen jugs of water waiting back at your truck for the ride home either. Its not just in camp you have to worry about your game meat, Some guys take a couple days drive to get home. Also some fellas have little apartment size freezers in the back of their truck for the ride home to.

Thanks guys. We have the meat preservation and transport side of things locked down.

Was looking for feedback on the temperatures some have had when hunting this area during late Aug to mid Sept and if it is generally cool enough to permit hanging alone without needing to resport to other methods of keeping game cool.

Last time we were there, 2019, late August, early Sept, we had lots of rain and mist, a little snow, and low temps just under freezing. WE had no problem but we did the old meat in the packboxes in the creek trick.

Not to be an ass but make sure you have a barrier between meat and a garbage bag as garbage bags usually have an added chemical , not food safe . Go with a dedicated food grade plastic bag . But I think you know that !
