this was the first year since I've started hunting that I didn't pull the trigger on a deer.....but I was happy with that, still lots of fun watching them from the stand, and with a freezer already full of meat it was a luxury to hold out for a mature buck, they just didn't walk by at the right time lol
some great deer posted here, congrats to the lucky hunters
Unfortunately, the rifles are getting lighter because we are getting heavier and more unfit as a society. This is the key to the mainstream acceptance of the short magnums. - Nathan Foster
I didnt really pursue Whitetail until the end of November but i managed to get 1 in Alberta and 1 in Saskatchewan at the end of the season..
Did very little deer hunting this year because I cut both tags on the second day of each opening ,,,,so two deer on two shots. Both deer were forks. I'm way more about the quality of the meat than the size of what could go on the wall. In fact, if I can't cut my meat with a butter knife then I'll usually pass.
First time I haven't gone after a WT doe in many years but I've switched things up a bit by spending a ton of time going waterfowl hunting with my griff,,,,usually 2-3 times per week since the season started. Also got a ton of grouse while scouting the areas that I mule deer hunt in after the first 8 day Canada goose opening finished in September.
Another deerless year for me.
Only got out once with Son, too many nagging body problems for me.
He got a really nice Mulie early on in the season, his freezers are full from last season's bear and a crap load of fish - salmon, trout, perch, you name it. We offered to buy him a freezer for Xmas but he has no room for another.
Son took Son In Law out a total or 3 or so days, no luck, still trying to get him his first deer. Apparently had a chance or two but didn't shoot for various reasons.
1 August goat
1 4pt mule deer in November
1 3x4 white tail in late November
it was a good year. Less wolf sign and more deers.
