I have found that the Chinese paracord is junk . The made in USA stuff is the way to go ! Tactical place in New West has loads of it in various colours .

Been a while since I did any backpacking. 50 ft of 3/8 nylon and a small roll of 200 ft nylon twine good for about 200 pounds. And a 25 foot roll of stainless haywire. I've stitched boots to backpacks back together with that.
No one on their death bed ever said; I should have spent more time at work.

I keep 100' of spectra twine in my daypack with a few more shorter random lengths, strong and light, I also carry some #18(size) very thin 3 strand tarred seine mending twine, its very handy if you need to lash something together and weighs nothing and takes up no room in your pack.
very interesting! Will try to find some

I picked up some Samson Zing it Rope this year and am pretty impressed. Dyneema 1.75mm 500lb breaking strength. Doesn’t take up much space and seems real strong.

I carry 30 feet of 8mm kernmantle on my belt everywhere I walk when hunting...I have lots of experience with rope and rope rescue so I also pack a reasonably long 1/2 inch rope and several shorter utility ropes as well as a load of extra goodies including pullies carabiners and shackles for SHTF situations. (I have also strung the odd zip line with the stuff for the kids when setting up a standing camp...)

I pack and second the dyneema. Strongest, lightest option imo. Check out Lawson Equipment online.
