I always wondered how fast/slow my arrows were traveling.. tried out my new chrony today at my backyard range.... worked great!

Used the same 540gr feathered arrow for all the traditional bows. Speeds are averages from four and five shot groups.

Chek-Mate Crusader 64" Longbow 55# @ 28" = 167 fps

Chek-Mate TD Hunter (11) 62" Recurve 55 @ 28 = 172 fps

Empress Mountain Custom 64" Longbow 56 @ 28 = 169 fps

Limbsaver Deadzone 30 Lite set at 64# draw weight shooting a Darkhorse Stud 340 with 2" Vanetech high profile vanes with a gross weight of 416.7 gr = 270 fps

I'm pretty happy with these results. Mikey lent me a sound meter so one of these days I'll try to get a little testing done with it too. My impression is that both the longbows are considerably more quiet than the recurve but that the Limbsaver is the most quiet of the bunch. I just installed a Limbsaver string decelerator and it works AWESOME... the bow was quiet before but now its almost silent... unreal difference!!
