    cold weather boots

Well just about lost my big toes last year late Nov in regions 5 so this year I am going to pick up some insulated boots and leave my meindls at home...

    any recommendations?

looking for around 800 fill as I want them warm.

Not tree stand boots either, cover 20-25km a day.

on my second pair of these. Use them working in the bush both with and without snowshoes depending how much snow. I have much heavier winter boots if going to be sitting around or not moving much. Won’t be as much ankle support as your meindls but the keens seem good, need to treat regularly like any other boot.

I am happy with my Irish Setter Elk Trackers that are 1000 gram. A little heavy but are waterproof and toasty warm. Kenetrek makes a high quality 1000 gram boot. Grandlunds on the Island carries them I believe.

Baffin lace up felt packs. Get 3 or 4 extra felt packs a fresh one for each day and fresh ones in your pack if you get sweated up or break through some ice.

I’m trying out a pair of pac boots this year. Rubber bottoms, lace up leather uppers and removable liners. They seem like they are going to be good. Much more support than a normal winter boot but just as warm. Side hills in muck boots suck but they work good in the cold too.

I find felt packs are good for sitting but suck for hiking. A good leather insulated boot is far better for hiking, way more support.
