    Sheep Hunter Comradery

With all the negativity around hunter interactions lately I thought to share a recent encounter of ours.
We were sheep hunting a good ways in for the last couple weeks of the stone season. About a week in to our complete surprise a couple other hunters came into the valley and spent a couple days. We never met in person, but just shared waves through the binos.

Sheep hunters occasionally can have the personality of one that I wouldn't introduce to my dog. But for the record, I have had nothing but positive encounters with guys in the back country. Encounters prior to this trip had always been guides on/off the clock and usually entailed good conversation, lunch plus some show and tell.

Cheers to you boys and your good attitude! Those beers were a great thing to see after a couple weeks, thanks. You guys made it out just before winter really came in lol.

That's great to hear. The one and only time I came across other hunters in the mountains, it was a civilized conversation that reflected our shared passion/

Ran into another party this august. They were very accommodating. We mulled about crowding them for an hour as we were planning on spiking out in the same place they were headed. If they had planned on spiking out there me and the partner had already agreed that they got there first then it’s theirs. When we ran into them they didn’t have spike gear and all they said was “hope you boys find a big one”. Good guys in my book. Fraser lake guys.
