Damn that’s sobering. I wonder how much part did the fire play. I saw lots of sign and a cow n calf but no bulls yet. General consensus here seems to be that their ain’t that many moose left.
Seems like that in many areas and yet others are doing better than expected. Just have to get out and try. Thanks for the info!
What the harvest stats suggest, and what you see in the field, do jive. No dip in hunter effort, guys/gals are out there trying to fill tags that's for sure. LEH tag holders for 7-13 that I know of from the last few years have killed bulls with minimal effort, hunted hard with no success until late season, or ate tag soup. A healthy mix of all types of results. In 2019 it was promising to see the amount of calves I was seeing over 2018. Haven't seen too many moose yet in 2020 but not much time spent in the field in 7-13 either, yet.
